Jul 02, 2019 · Just drag the OpenVPN configuration file to the Tunnelblick icon in the menu bar, as described in all of our documentation and in the program help. If you do that and are missing files that the OpenVPN configuration file refers to, Tunnelblick will display a window that describes the problem in detail.
When attempting to connect to a VPN using a TAP connection, OpenVPN may display a series of "write to TUN/TAP : Input/output error (code=5)" error messages. Although a few of these messages are normal, if they continue to be displayed for more than a few seconds, try to connect using "Set nameserver (alternate 1)". When there are no configurations (which is usually the case for a new installation of Tunnelblick), the configuration helper will appear: Click the appropriate button and the configuration helper will guide you through the installation of configurations. For more details on installing configurations, see Downloading and Installing Configurations. It will create a configuration named "DEF" inside a folder "SubfolderABC"; Tunnelblick will display the configuration name as "SubfolderABC/DEF". Note: Both configurations are dummy configurations that will not connect to a VPN server either before or after it is updated. Tunnelblick will display an error message when you try to connect.
